Swiss Women's 7s finish Rugby Europe Trophy in 6th place
19.06.2016, Ricany, CZE - The Swiss Women's 7s National Team finished the first leg of the 2016 Rugby Europe 7s Women's Trophy in 2nd place of the plate division, and in 6th place overall, with 3 wins and 3 losses over the course of the weekend.
After a tough last match on Saturday against Scotland, Switzerland started its Sunday by facing Sweden, the evntual tournament champions, in the Cup Division Quarter-Final. Despite getting a early try on the board, Switzerland lost to Sweden 21-7.
Next up was the Plate Division Semi-Final against Hungary. In this match, the Swiss ladies dominated their oppenent and imposed themselves 22-12 for a place in the Plate Final.
Switzerland then met Romania to play for the Plate win and 5th/6th place overall. Switzerland could feel the wear of the long weekend in its legs and Romania was too clinical for its opponents. The Edelweiss Ladies finally hat to concede defeat with 5 points to Romania's 19.
Switzerland thereby finishes in 6th place of Leg 1 of the 2016 Rugby Europe Women's 7s Trophy, and prepares for the second leg, to be held on July 9th and 10th in Estergom, Hungary.
