18.06.2016, Ricany, CZE - The Swiss Women's 7s National Team finished day 1 at the Rugby Europe 7s Women's Trophy in 2nd place of Pool A, with 2 wins and 1 loss, thereby securing a place in tomorrow's quarter-finals.
Switzerland opened its tournament against tournament hosts Czech Republic. Despite taking a little while to find its rhythm, Switzerland soon established its dominance in the match, running in for 5 tries overall, winning the opener by 29 points to 10.
Next up was Israel, against whom the Swiss ladies imposed themselves scoring 4 tries to Israel's 2, and winning the match 26-10.
This set up the final Pool match as a small Pool-final, when Switzerland met tournament-favorites Scotland to play for 1st place in Pool A.
Despite a valiant Swiss effort, Scotland proved too strong and too clinical, and secured the match with 47 points to 7.
Switzerland thereby concludes day 1 with a strong 2nd place in Pool A, and secures itself a place in tomorrow's Quarter-finals, where it will meet Sweden at 10h44.
