RC Geneve PLO wins Swiss Cup against Lausanne UC
25.06.2016, Nyon - Geneve PLO beat Lausanne UC by 18 points to 6 to lift the Swiss Cup 2015-2016.
In a rematch of the LNA semi-final, RC Geneve Plan Les Ouates (GPLO) faced Lausanne University Club (LUC) on Saturday, June 25th for the Swiss Cup final on neutral ground in Nyon.
For GPLO this marked the second final of the season, having valiantly battled Nyon in the LNA final just 2 weeks earlier, but ending up at the bottom of the scoreboard in the end.
During the first half both teams struggled to find their rhythm in the game, leaving the score at just 3-3 after 40 minutes of play.
In the second half things became a little more animated, and after the bulk of the playing time GPLO was in a narrow lead by 11-6. It wasn't until the dying minutes of the match that Leo Bel's try, realized from a kick by Gatean Hirsch, sealed the nervous victory for Geneve PLO.
Geneve PLO: 2 tries, 1 conversion, 2 penalties
Lausanne UC: 2 penalties
